     GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Cyber Defense Infrastructure Engineer in the Hershey, PA area.

    Position Overview

    The CDIE installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains various cyber security capabilities (hardware and software) to ensure their confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Manages accounts, patches, and secure configurations. Capabilities include, but are not limited to, network and host-based anti-virus/anti-malware, host-based firewalls, advanced threat detection agents, net-flow analytics platform, secure email gateway, data loss prevention, full disk encryption, web proxy, password manager, incident response case management, and security orchestrations tools. 


    Responsible for setting up and maintaining a system or specific components of a system (e.g. for example, installing, configuring, and updating hardware and software; establishing and managing user accounts; overseeing or conducting backup and recovery tasks; implementing operational and technical security controls; and adhering to organizational security policies and procedures).


    Tests, implements, deploys, maintains, reviews, and administers the infrastructure hardware and software that are required to effectively manage the cyber defense infrastructure and resources. Monitors assigned cyber defense infrastructure systems to actively remediate unauthorized activities.


    • Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.
    • Coordinate with Cyber Defense Analysts to manage and administer the updating of rules and signatures (e.g., intrusion detection/protection systems, antivirus, and content blacklists) for specialized cyber defense applications.
    • Design group policies and access control lists to ensure compatibility with organizational standards, business rules, and needs.
    • Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.
    • Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.
    • Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
    • Perform system administration on specialized cyber defense applications and systems (e.g., antivirus, audit and remediation) or Virtual Private Network (VPN) devices, to include installation, configuration, maintenance, backup, and restoration.
    • Plan, execute, and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.
    • Provide ongoing optimization and problem-solving support.
    • Assist in identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating the protection of critical cyber defense infrastructure and key resources.
    • Build, install, configure, and test dedicated cyber defense hardware.
    • Assist in assessing the impact of implementing and sustaining a dedicated cyber defense infrastructure.
    • Install, update, and troubleshoot systems/servers.
    • Administer test bed(s), and test and evaluate applications, hardware infrastructure, rules/signatures, access controls, and configurations of platforms managed by service provider(s).
    • Check system hardware availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.
    • Conduct periodic system maintenance including cleaning (both physically and electronically), disk checks, routine reboots, data dumps, and testing.
    • Create, edit, and manage network access control lists on specialized cyber defense systems (e.g., firewalls and intrusion prevention systems).
    • Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures.
    • Implement and enforce local network usage policies and procedures.
    • Identify potential conflicts with implementation of any cyber defense tools (e.g., tool and signature testing and optimization).
    • Implement Risk Management Framework (RMF)/Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) requirements for dedicated cyber defense systems within the enterprise, and document and maintain records for them.
    • Manage system/server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
    • Monitor and maintain system/server configuration.
    • Oversee installation, implementation, configuration, and support of system components.
    • Diagnose faulty system/server hardware.
    • Perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware.
    • Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 4-6 years experience in network infrastructure, firewalls, IDS/IPS, application proxies, systems administration, network storage, enterprise authentication, backups and data retention, information assurance.
    • Experience managing Anti-virus/Anti-malware.
    • Experience with Netflow Security Analytics.
    • Experience with Host-based Advanced Threat Detection.
    • Experience with Network-based Advanced Threat.
    • Experience with Email Secure Gateway.
    • Experience with Case Management tool.
    • Experience with Data Loss Prevention.
