    Are you looking for a dynamic and innovative career with a full-service technology company? GDC IT Solutions is currently recruiting for a Senior Technical Writer in the Chambersburg, PA or Hagerstown, MD area.

    Position Overview

    The Senior Technical Writer will be joining an applications development team that places an emphasis on software development that enhances and supports critical customer environments, exceeding expectations for both internal and external customers. The Senior Technical Writer will work closely with the end customer and members of the Applications teams to define documentation standards and templates. The Senior Technical Writer will serve as a technical communicator, focusing on developing, gathering, and disseminating technical information across the IT organization. They must also demonstrate proficiency in technical editing of documentation and the preparation of formal written materials for customer delivery.

    Responsibilities

    • Creates operational documentation for organizational policies, processes, and procedures related to management of critical systems, intra and inter-team coordination.
    • Supports the assessment, development, and documentation of Process Architecture and Procedural workflows across technical teams and relevant technical capabilities
    • Supports organization- and enterprise-wide content management systems, including Wikis, Help files and Frequently Asked Questions, and SharePoint.
    • Takes ownership of organizational documentation standards including program management, reporting, practices and procedures, and technical documentation.
    • Conducts research on technical topics and participates in discussions with technical specialists.
    • Writes, edits, reviews, and organizes all technical written materials including organization of key sections, tables, exhibits, and attachments, providing graphic/layout assistance to help ensure that a quality product is produced.
    • Works closely with engineers and technical team leads to document system launches and service transitions to help ensure that critical schedules are maintained.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, preferably in Computer Science/Information Systems/Engineering or another related field.
    • Experience with ITIL v3 Foundation.
    • 5+ years of technical writing experience related to process engineering in IT organizations.
    • Experience with ServiceNow or a related IT Service Management platform.
    • Ability to understand complex information and communicate the information to people with diverse technical backgrounds.
    • Ability to prioritize requests, set expectations for task completion, and provide task status.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and effective professional correspondence.
    • Self-sufficient and resourceful, and able to work independently and take ownership of work products.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.

    Preferred Experience

    • ITIL v3 Certification
