    Position Overview

    This position is responsible for creating effective system networking solutions for the organization. The Jr. Network Engineer is in charge of designing more efficient computer network alternatives, as well as installing software applications that make faster connections between organizational servers and client machines.


    • Plan, design, and troubleshoot local and wide area network infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, switches, gateways, DNS servers, DHCP servers, clustering solutions, and related hardware, software, and services. Strong understanding of Cisco technologies required.
    • Test and document system behavior, performance, and security.
    • Providing tier 4 support and network disaster recovery expertise.
    • Solve interoperability problems and strive to increase end-user satisfaction.
    • Upgrade networking equipment, as well as plan and use computer engineering solutions to decrease security risks.
    • Manage local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) support security credentials, in addition to managing wireless ranges and issues.
    • Install software and/or hardware firewalls to protect company data. 
    • Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
    • Optimize server response and overall operation for faster file transfer.
    • Block certain websites for employees to comply with company rules, and they follow strict protocols to avoid privacy issues.
    • Work with other engineers to ensure computer systems are fast and efficient.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 1-2 years of experience working as a Network Engineer. 
    • Experience maintaining, upgrading, and configuring Cisco routers, Cisco MDS and Nexus switches, IBM Brocade switches, firewalls and wireless devices.
    • Experience in the design, build, deploy and maintenance of enterprise WAN/LAN/VOIP networks.
    • Experience working in a datacenter, UCS infrastrcture and blade center environment.  
    • Knowledge of how to build and support Windows Server 2000-2016.  
    • Strong understanding of storage infrastructure support including storage zoning, NFS, Shift sharing, iSCSI. 
    • Knowledge of network security practices. 

    Preferred Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, IT or other related field preferred. 
    • Experience with Unix/Linux is preferred. 
    • Cisco ASA, ASR, and Fortigate experience preferred.
    • Network certifications a plus.
