Position Overview

The Information Security Specialist will support the Information Security Risk Management program within the Chief Information Security Office. This position will conduct risk assessments on information systems, IT infrastructure, and processes in accordance with established regulations and organization standards/policies.  The Information Security Specialist will identify and document control gaps in the information systems environment by reviewing assessment results, recommending corrective action, tracking remediation, evaluating standards/policy exceptions and regularly report on the information security posture of the organization. This position will also perform a variety of internal audits of access controls, Information Security procedures and other IT procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Information Security and control assessments, and leverage expertise, industry best practice, corporate policies/standards and federal/state regulations to evaluate security and control effectiveness.
  • Conduct risk analyses, evaluations and report assessment findings on information assets and processes as it pertains to the organization's Risk Management program.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining an audit and compliance program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, best practices and company policies.
  • Information Security Awareness:  Prepare, schedule, and present Information Security awareness briefings to systems managers, custodians, and users.  Act as a focal point for dissemination of Information Security information through all forms of media.
  • Provide reporting and metrics that ensure the quality of the Risk Management program services are meeting business objectives.
  • Manage vendor security assessment reviews to enable informed decision making related to third party engagements.
  • Initiate Risk Acceptance forms for policy or control deviations and identify mitigating controls.
  • Use GRC and other desktop tools to conduct risk assessments and support various activities, initiatives, and projects.
  • Review and update policies in support of IT Security practices and ensures alignment with federal, state and organization's regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or related fields and three+ years of IT audit experience
  • Professional license (e.g, CPA, CISA, CIA, CISSP) preferred and any combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Advanced experience, including but not limited to, auditing a variety of IT systems including Microsoft Windows, web-based activities, database operations, and technical operations.
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of an organization's information technology infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand and assimilate business and IT processes.
  • Sound business perspective and business judgment; understanding of the industry and related business risks; knowledge of business processes.
  • Independence and objectivity; executive-level interpersonal skills; management and leadership skills; political savvy; sound judgment personal strength; personal independence; integrity; flexibility.
  • Excellent analytical, decision making, and time management skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
