Position Overview

The System/Network Administrator II position provides a high level of technical expertise in the planning, evaluation, acquisition, design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s network and systems infrastructure. This includes firewalls, Windows and SUSE servers, VMware virtualization, disk storage systems (SAN), and support of network related software and systems.  This position collaborates with both the Network Administrator III and the Cloud Solutions Technician II providing backup coverage and working joint projects in both areas. 

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the deployment and performance of all Microsoft software installations, updates, security patches, etc. in conjunction with the IT Security department at Corporate. This includes server level software such as Exchange/E-Mail, SQL Server, SharePoint, Active Directory, PC Imaging Software, and MS Server. Participates in the administration of MS Exchange/E-Mail including retention policies.
  • Collaborates with the Network Administrator III to ensure the server/VMware and SAN network environment is well maintained and consistent with company objectives and is compatible with existing applications and adheres to security requirements.
  • Collaborates with the IT Network and Telecom Administration staff to analyze and resolve network/systems hardware, software, and communications problems using diagnostic software and/or technical troubleshooting processes. Evaluates the effectiveness of network/systems hardware, software, and communications performance. Recommends enhancements to IT management.
  • Collaborates with IT OPS staff in the management and overall health of the MS Active Directory structure.
  • Works with vendors to diagnose problems and see repairs through to completion
  • Creates and maintains documentation relative to the network/systems and software in use. Mentors other IT staff ensuring viable backup personnel are adequately trained.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of disaster recovery procedures for the network/systems and related resources.
  • Collaborates with the Cloud Solutions Technician II managing and monitoring the wide-ranging cloud solutions in use at the company, including;
    • Box/DropBox
    • Okta SSO
    • MS O365
    • MS InTune MDM
    • MS Dynamics CRM
    • MS Sharepoint
  • Participates in other IT Operations projects as time permits.
  • Must have the ability to relay highly complex technical information to non-technical individuals and the ability to interact with employees.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT or an Associates with 2-5 years relevant IT experience.
  • Superior customer service attitude, an outgoing personality, and superior written and oral communications skills are a must-have.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to manage projects, plan, organize and prioritize outstanding tasks.
  • Be organized and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Willing to share information and mentor subordinates.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions.
  • A high level of MS Office 365 and cloud technology related product knowledge and experience.
  • Technical or administration experience with Microsoft Windows Servers, VMware, SAN (EMC Preferred), Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and Active Directory
  • A high level of interest in Cloud based technologies. Assists in the research and recommendation of  solutions to IT Management.
  • Ability to present ideas and solutions in a user-friendly manner to non-technical staff and all customers of IT services.
  • High level of knowledge regarding network security, firewalls (CheckPoint preferred), routers and protection of internet access points.
  • Understand network security threats and solutions and monitor for possible breaches.
  • Experience working in a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in a team lead or supervisory role is a plus.
  • Experience in the administration of Microsoft SQL servers desired.
  • Experience with Intrusion Detection/Prevention systems and vulnerability scanning desired.
  • Experience with MS Lync/Skype for Business Voice products a plus.
  • Any previously received awards or commendations for providing excellent customer service are a plus.
